The permits to host Rockfest at the place chosen was going to be
close to 10K, so that's not going happen. Back to the drawing board!
Over the next month, through the end of September, the final full editions
of Joint and Hellzine will be up online. As I stated before, those webzines
will become a page in the Underground Sound beginning in 2005, if there are
reviews and content to be had. I appreciate the support from everyone over
the years working on those webzines. Sometimes it's be fun but sometimes
they weren't.
Rootdaddy still MIA from Rebel Messiah, but I do hear from him in
the early morning hours. I still have faith in the boy, though at
times you have to wonder.....Kilgore has recovered from his brain
surgery and is back in four string thumpin' action...We shall RISE!

NEW MUSIC VIDEO!
Probably none of you knew, but the band A Perfect Circle has just
recently had a contest for someone to direct the video for their
song BLUE. The real catch was the 16-day deadline.
We jumped right on it...sort of, and finished what I would call A
REAL FUCKING GOOD JOB. Apparently it was impossible to do in such
a short time period, according to some forum posts at (
http://www.aperfectcircle.org/forums/showthread.php?t=6081 )
What's funny is that we finished it in three days. That's shooting
and editing. Jesus died and came back to life (Like Osiris) in
three days; I think we did a better miracle.

us film in Gargoyles. If you live in the Seattle area, you should

NEW CICCONE SINGLE OUT!
Hello People!
Look at you there, looking all fancy. Have you had your hair done?
Well, you look very nice indeed!
Anyway, we just thought wee'd mention that Ciccone have a single
coming out on MONDAY! It's called Look At You Now and it's very good
indeed. So, on Monday, could you just nip out and buy a copy? It won't
cost much, promise! If your local record shop doesn't have it, firstly
berate them for having such poor stock and then get them to order it
in for you. Easy, huh?
It'd be nice to get it one the radio too. We're big on audience
participation (we didn't vote in Big Brother though), so we'd like
you to help with this as well. First of all, start by pestering the
DJ's on Radio 1 and XFM. Pester them continuously and don't stop until
they have played the song AND mentioned your name when they do so. If
they don't say your name, you're not allowed to stop pestering - thems
is the rules of the game. If you've got a few more spare minutes (or if
you win the first part of the game), why not email/phone/bang on the
door of your local radio stations too?
Your reward for all of this work will be entrance to a Ciccone gig
(you will only have to pay the entrance fee charged on the door to get
in!). These are taking place in the following areas and on the

Hello,
Well, with ‘I Love Music´ mysteriously out of action for the time
being, here´s a thread dedicated entirely to XL related news, just to
give you some reading material in the meantime. I´ll try to present a
cohesive argument, starting with the headlines:

The Prodigy are back.
The Prodigy have returned, with two brand new tracks from their
forthcoming album already in limited circulation - ‘Girls´ and
‘Memphis Bells´ have made their way into the hands of press, radio
and a handful of DJs. Early reactions have been excellent with
‘Girls´ getting strong support from all of the specialist shows on
both BBC Radio 1 and Xfm as well.
Earlier in the week a groundbreaking download of ‘Memphis Bells´ was
released giving people the chance to download their own unique version
of the track. Last week saw a very limited quantity of 12”s make their
way into stores – unfortunately both the download and 12” have sold
out. If you want to hear the new Prodigy tracks you´ll have to get to
a radio.
The album ‘Always Outnumbered Never Outgunned´ is scheduled for
release on August 23rd with the single ‘Girls´ to follow on August
30th.

M.I.A. makes her XL debut
One of the more recent signings to XL, M.I.A. releases her first
single for XL, ‘Sunshowers´, on July 5th. This single comes on the
back of M.I.A.´s hugely popular track ‘Galang´ which was released by
Showbiz Records earlier in the year. You can go see the stunning video

The Golden Virgins release ‘Light In Her Window´
It has been a month of firsts for Sunderland´s Golden Virgins. They
made their first live TV appearance for BBC 3, and played their first
ever Glastonbury Festival. You can see the band´s performance online

Whirlwind Heat have a new record on the schedule
Grand Rapids, MI´s most famous export, Whirlwind Heat, have set a
release date of August 23rd for their new EP titled ‘Flamingo Honey´.
The EP will be released on a one-sided, etched 10”, and on CD, and
features 10 tracks, all of which are exactly 1 minute long. The EP
is being released by XL in Europe, and by LA based Dim Mak Records
in the US.

The Radio Dept. release a new single
Having made single of the week in the NME with their last single
release ‘Why Won´t You Talk About It?´, Sweden´s Radio Dept. are
preparing for the release of ‘Where Damage Isn´t Already Done´, the
standout track from their album ‘Lesser Matters´. There´s a good
chance the band will be over to tour – the month to keep your eye on
is August for the album, single and live shows.

Zongamin plays Ibiza
Finally, Zongamin has nearly finished his second album for XL, the
follow up to his self titled debut. Having recently supported Franz
Ferdinand at their request, Susumu is due to head out to both Ibiza
and Japan with his band for a handful of live dates. See the XL tour

Welcome to the world of COURAGEOUS!
COURAGEOUS signed record-deal
It's done. We've signed a record-deal with the legendary belgium
metallabel Mausoleum Records, so our next record "Inertia" will be
released worldwide. It was a long time period from the beginning of
the negotiations until now, but it wasn't easy for us, because we are
greenhorns in this kind of business activities. Now we are very happy
to be a part of the Mausoleum-Team.
We signed the contract with Ralph Graupner, the german promoter of
Mausoleum Records.
COURAGEOUS
From the beginning of our music career until now there were a lot of
confusions about the name of the band. Since we signed the
record-deal with Mausoleum Records the official name of the band is:
COURAGEOUS.
So we pay tribute to all the critics in the past and the band submits
to the will of the record-company. The new logo is still under
construction, but we will present it as soon as possible. In the
meanwhile we won't up-to-date the homepage in every single way.

end of September to November 15th. That was a business decision.

New Stuff from NERVED
Hi friends and fans of Stockholm based band Nerved!
Latest info from the band:
Everything is now recorded! The whole album is done. Emil did the
last vocals this last monday, 5 - 6 more songs to Mix and then it's
ready!
Former Nazareth guitarist Manny Charlton will - as many of you
know - do a guest appearance on the album. This song will be sent
to Texas in the coming period.
A video for one of the tracks will be recorded in early autumn prior
to the release that is expected before Christmas. The album title will
be "Off Line".

The new one is a reviews page. If you have seen reviews of the band

on nominees for the Government Propaganda Award 2004.
What this is is (the prize) simply a headline in the last
Underground Sound webzine of 2004, which will be published in
December. The nominees must be available freely on the internet
(archives are fine), and be an actual production of a
government agency (any government in the world) and can be
a simple picture (gif, jpeg) ad , text article, or multimedia
presentation. An internet archive of a television or radio
broadcast is ok. The propaganda must be a lie, or clouded
information used to sway the public's opinion on an important
issue, and it must have been presented in 2004 to qualify.
The voting will be via email, but the nominees must be
suggested as follow-ups to this usenet post. Let's shed
some light on how our money goes to fund political lies!
