EDITOR'S bs:
After the disaster of Rockfest in Atlanta, I've decided to scratch
the Los Angeles event. Not just because Atlanta was such an out
of control non-event, but seems like the 'ol LA spirit is coming
back in force. Meaning I hear alot of yeah yeah's, sure sure's and
we can do it's, and when it comes down to the real deal, all
I've heard turns out just to be words, no action.
It'd be great if there was financing or at least some kind of
budget to compete with the greed-fests.....maybe that is a good
place to start.
The first Rockfest of 2003, will be in Los Angeles. Having one in
Atlanta will happen, maybe. Anyone who wants to help out in any
way possible, hook up.

RAKIT
HELLO:
RAKIT is based in Los Angeles and has been named "LA's Best
Modern Industrial Rock Band" for two years in a row by both the
LA Music Awards and the RCN Music Awards. RAKIT is on several
compilations in stores and has been reviewed as "having the angst
and sorrow of Nirvana" by unearthed.com and hailed "Kings of the
LA Industrial scene" by NOHO News.
Meanstreet magazine gave RAKIT its "highest recommendation." The
music is super-modern and futuristic. One of RAKIT's songs, Rage
Power, is in Artisan Entertainment's feature film "Soul
Survivors." RAKIT is on the sound track and can also be heard
on the DVD animated menu released for rental or purchase in Feb
2002. RAKIT's music has also been licensed by MTV for its show
"Undressed." Recently RAKIT performed their club hit "No
Pain" in a Gothic/Industrial club scene filmed in the infamous
"Nightmare On Elm St" boiler room for a Playboy feature fantasy

DISTORTED - metal and punk in the mainstream and underground
Ken Blackmore's temporarily absent from this batch of reviews.
It's not for any particular reason, just 'cos, between the other
Ken and his holiday fill-in, Dominic Body (whose acid tongue
should be familiar from our singles section), there's enough for
an update before Mr Blackmore's finished his latest batch. So
here's your lot for now, with a couple of great punk compilations
from Nitro and Epitaph, a load of growling vicious metal and, on
the downside, a remix cash-in from nu-metallers Linkin Park.
Expect more real soon as Ken finishes his reviews and Dominic
reels off another batch.
